Queer Friends and Feathers: Coastal Birds!

Join Birds Canada biologist Remi Torrenta (he/him) for a short and sweet tour of some coastal waterbirds that frequent local shorelines! Thousands of waterfowl migrate here in the winter to take refuge in the warm and nutrient-rich waters. They are a lot of fun to watch and great birds to start identifying for beginners. Join us outside with other queer folks that want to spend time in nature.

  • For queer and trans people that want to learn more about nature together
  • Starts at Nature House in Stanley Park
  • Followed by a boardgame warm drinks, and snacks at Wingspan Tournament

​The Pride Collective
The organization aims to support individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQAI+ and their allies by providing information, recommendations, and support.

Services Provided
  • Daily, weekly, annual, and summer events such as talks, movies, and social gatherings
  • Social and educational services addressing sexual and gender diversity
  • Weekly discussion groups
  • Access to gender-affirming supplies such as binders, breastforms, packers, and others at low or no cost
  • Open to all members of the UBC community, including academics, staff, and students

The ARC Foundation develops ground-breaking partnership methods and co-finances them with the goal of lessening 2SLGBTQAI+ prejudice in educational settings. Their vision is that every student deserves to feel secure and can recognize themselves in the world.

SOGI 1 2 3 Programs:

  • Building bridges between provincial institutions and associations so that more effective, sustainable, and accelerated change can take place.
  • Creating a provincial SOGI educator network through which educators learn from each other and lead change together.
  • Creating professional development and classroom resources with educators for educators that are ready to use, easy to access, and open to customization.

​Trans Lifeline
Trans Lifeline is a national trans-led group that aims to enhance the quality of trans lives by:
  • Meeting the urgent needs of the community through advocacy, education, direct service, and material support.
  • Promoting justice-focused, community assistance in order to combat the trans suicide pandemic and improve the general well-being of trans persons.
They offer:
  • Hotline peer assistance for transgender and questioning callers
  • Trans-identified operators all over the United States and Canada

​Three Bridges - Prism Services
Prism offers training and workshops on inclusion, diversity, and health and wellbeing for the 2SLGBTQAI+ community. These sessions are available to students, healthcare professionals, social service providers, and service recipients.
  • Prism helps connect individuals to 2SLGBTQAI+ organizations, counseling, resources and community services.
  • Prism does not provide direct client services but can help connect individuals to appropriate resources.
  • Prism also supports Vancouver Coastal Health staff members in developing their skills in working with 2SLGBTQAI+ populations through:
    • Clinical supervision
    • Networking
    • Training

Where: Vancouver’s West End starting on Robson Street, left on Denman Street, and another left on Beach Avenue. The Parade ends beside the Sunset Beach festival site.

Bring your most colourful costume and get ready for a weekend of parties, parades and gay pride. The Vancouver Pride Parade & Festival draws more than half a million participants and spectators, and it includes street parties, food vendors, movies, family-friendly events and one of the largest gay pride parades in North America.

The Really Gay History Tour

The Really Gay History Tour is a walking tour that celebrates Vancouver's queer community and the individuals that fought for change. The tour includes a history of the gay village, stories of brave 2SLGBTQAI+ advocates, and much more!

Dates: Sundays, 10:00 am
Location: Meet at Robert Lee YMCA, 955 Burrard St., Vancouver
Cost: $32 adults, $29 youth and seniors
Details: The walk is approximately 2-2.5 hours


The Really Gay History Tour

Free Counselling 2SLGBTQAI+

Free Counselling LGBTQ2
QMUNITY has a counselling program that is professional and a volunteer-based service providing low-cost short-term counselling.
  • The program provides support for a range of issues that individuals may face in their daily lives.
  • The counsellors work collaboratively with clients, offering a variety of approaches based on their education and experience
  • Role is to facilitate the client's work in a way that respects their values, personal resources, and capacity for self-determination
  • Skills learned during counseling can help to enrich relationships and become a part of an individual's daily life.
  • Individuals can receive 10 reduced-cost sessions. If you are experiencing financial barriers, free sessions may be accommodated

  • The gym offers designated time for trans, gender diverse, and Two-Spirit individuals, as well as their family and friends.
  • The gym has a universal change room available for all individuals.
  • The fitness center has various equipment and amenities available including:
    • Cardio machines
    • Strength-training machines
    • Free weights
    • Exercise props
    • Stretching area
    • Includes items such as stair climbers, elliptical machines, balance boards and body balls

Bifocus

Bifocus
Bifocus is a peer-led social and support group for bisexual, bi-questioning, and pansexual individuals and allies to explore and share their experiences. It is run by volunteers of QMUNITY. 

  • Bifocus offers a community for individuals of all genders to exchange perspectives on bi/pan/questioning issues and experiences in a non-judgmental space.
  • Topics of discussion in the group include:
    • Relationships
    • Oppression such as biphobia, bisexual invisibility, and monosexism
    • Health and mental health
    • Coming out stories and more
    • The goal of the group is to empower people of all backgrounds.

Women, Trans, and Queer-Identifying Night - Our Community Bikes

Women on Wheels:  L.T.Q. Night at Our Community Bikes
Twice a month Community Bikes opens their doors after hours to women, trans and queer-identifying people to use the shop and have specific opportunity to further their mechanic skills. WTQ nights are staffed by women and gender-variant mechanics. WTQ night hopes to make this knowledge more diffuse amongst marginalized communities through peer based education.

    Free Bicycle Shop Time for Women, Gender Queer & Trans

    Free Bicycle Shop Time for Women, Gender Queer & Trans

    Where: Kickstand, 1739 Venables Street 
    When:  Biweekly: the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month
    Times:  6:30-8:30pm
    Cost:  Free


    • Kickstand invites individuals who identify as women, gender queer and trans* to participate in fun-filled bike mechanics nights.
    • These events take place on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.
    • The community is working to create a radically inclusive space and specifically aims to welcome those who have not traditionally been a dominant part of the bike industry.
    • The events are facilitated by female or gender variant bike mechanics and volunteers.
    • The goal is to create a safer space where learning, positive vibes and fun happen.
    • During these evenings, shop time is free, providing attendees access to all tools and experienced bike mechanics to answer questions and help fix bikes.
    • Basic bike mechanics workshops will also be provided by mechanics between 7:30 and 8:30, with new topics every week.

    Yoga with HiM

    Yoga with HiM
    HIM (Health Initiative for Men) has teamed up with some very talented yoga instructors to offer sessions on Friday nights.

    ​When:   Weekly on Fridays
    Time:      7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
    Where:  Scotiabank Dance Centre, 677 Davie Street
    Cost:      By donation


    • The group aims to increase flexibility, circulation, and overall health and well-being.
    • The group is easy-going, without attitude and open to men of all levels.
    • Scotia Dance Centre has a lounge available for attendees who arrive early.
    • At the front desk, attendees will be asked to sign in to the building, and information about the studio location and how to find it will be provided.
    • Participants should bring their own yoga mat, towel, and lots of energy.
    • Sessions are free, but donations are accepted to keep the services sustainable.
    • The suggested donation range is $5-$10.


    The class starts at 7 sharp and there is no late entry.

    Queer Reading and Crafts Book Club

    Join the queer reading circle and bring your personal craft project of choice to work on while discussing monthly themes, what we have read, and what we are looking forward to reading. Craft ideas include hand sewing, embroidery, colouring, and knitting. 

    The intention of this group is to build friendships and community centered around queerness, books, and crafts. Each month features a different theme and related literary works.
