Are you in need of food support? The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is here to help you and your family.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank was set up as a temporary relief to the hunger crisis in 1983, but the need still exists today.

We receive no recurring government funding and exist solely through the generosity of the public, our industry partners, and applicable grants.  Each month we provide healthy food to over 15,000 individuals and families in need and 130+ Community Agency Partners across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore. Our mission is to provide healthy food to those in need.

Vancouver Harbour Light: Community Meals

Grief Resources and Support Online with MyGrief.ca
Grief Resources and Support Online with MyGrief.ca
The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light community meal program provides free, nutritious meals for up to 200 people at each service.

The meals are open to everyone!

We do not host or require a sermon or other religious service before our meals. We do say a very quick grace before each meal service begins, to give thanks for a good meal and a caring community.

Community meals are made possible through the generosity of our donors and volunteers.

We will be hosting our 2024 Christmas Community Meals on Wed, Dec 25th, 11-1pm (doors close at 12:30pm)!
See you there!

Heart to Home Meals

BC Bereavement Helpline and Resources
We’re driven by a commitment to producing and delivering delicious and nutritious food in a way that respects people, the environment and the community at large. In doing so, we believe we can make a real difference to the lives of seniors in Canada.

We supply delicious and nutritious frozen meals from franchises based in local communities that are easy to prepare and delivered direct to the freezer. Our model is based around good old-fashioned service and the belief that life should get easier as you age.

For many of our customers, they often look forward to seeing and speaking to our drivers and office staff on a regular basis—and the importance of this relationship is key to the success of Heart to Home Meals.

Vancouver Gurdwaras

Picture

Akali Singh Sikh Temple

There is a mix of people down on their luck, young families, and those just looking for a free meal. The food is delicious but comes with quite a few rules: wash your hands before and after the meal, finish everything on your plate, talk as little as possible, and dress conservatively. The temple itself is quite beautiful as well, so if you have time after you’ve filled your belly, take some time to appreciate the architecture.

Dates and time: Monday to Thursday at 7pm sharp
Location: 1890 Skeena Street

Cost: Free

Ross Street Gurdwara

This sprawling Sikh temple was designed by the famous Vancouver architect Arthur Erickson.

Volunteers will offer you rice, dal or curry, yogurt, bread and sweets. Because this temple is less frequented by visitors, you will be able to have as much food as you need/want.

Dates and time:  Daily between 6 am - 8 pm
Location: 8000 Ross Street, Vancouver
Cost: Free

Note: All meals are vegetarian and can be a bit spicy
