GameSense Information Centres

  • The British Columbia Gambling Support (BCGS) program provides information and resources to help individuals make informed decisions about gambling.
  • BCGS operates interactive kiosks called GameSense Info Centers (GSICs) at casinos and community gaming centers.
  • Trained GameSense Advisors are also available at GSICs in BC casinos to answer questions about:
    • Game mechanics
    • The likelihood of winning and losing
    • Gambling-related myths
  • If gambling becomes a problem, advisors can also provide private help and services.

Game Break - GameSense

Game Break is a self-exclusion program that provides gambling support to individuals experiencing negative effects from gambling, who believe that stopping or taking a break will help, and who want to commit to changing their gambling habits.

Participants can voluntarily ban themselves from commercial bingo halls, locations with slot machines, and BCLC's internet gaming platform for periods of six months, one year, two years, or three years by signing a contract.

  • In-person: at a BC casino, community gaming centre, the Vancouver BCLC office, or with any casino employee
    • ​Location: 2940 Virtual Way, Vancouver
  • By Phone: Call BCLC Customer Support at 1-866-815-0222 to speak with a GameSense Advisor
    • Can also book an appointment at a BCLC office
    • Phone hours are 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight daily 
  • Virtually: message a BCLC GameSense Advisor or email a request for self-exclusion, and BCLC staff will arrange an appointment
    • Self-exclusion from PlayNow can be done online

Gam-Anon

Gam-Anon is a support group for individuals who are affected by someone else's gambling addiction. It gives individuals an opportunity to share their experiences, learn tools and tips, and grow emotionally.

GamTalk - Online Support

  • The GamTalk forum is a resource for individuals with gambling challenges.
  • It offers a free, online community where users can share their experiences and insights, as well as access virtual support groups on Mondays from 6-8pm Pacific Time.
  • GamTalk provides links to telephone and internet resources for those seeking assistance with gambling addiction, as well as their loved ones and anyone interested in responsible gaming.
  • The forum allows for anonymous posting and is monitored by administrators.
