CBT Skills Programs

The Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) ​Skills Group  is an 8-week psycho-educational class designed to teach practical tools to recognize, understand, and manage patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving aimed at improving an individual's mental health. The CBT Skills Group program is a transdiagnostic course that integrates basic neuroscience concepts with introductory mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy teaching.

Program instruction includes practical tools to recognize, understand and manage patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving. Participants learn to be conscious of their choices as they respond to life stressors and explore options for living a fuller, richer life, more aligned with what they value most. 

Program Details:
  • 1.5 hour group sessions for 8 weeks 
  • Available for adults in BC
  • A women only group and a new parent group are available
  • Sessions are free of charge ($65 refundable deposit)
  • $35 charge for a hard copy of the resources or no-fee for an online version
  • Referral from a doctor, nurse practitioner, or walk-in clinic is required

The Art of Living Mindfully

The online course teaches mindfulness-based strategies that are useful in navigating stress and in recognizing patterns of thought, speech, and behaviour that may be contributing to stress and suffering. The course features home meditation practices that participants are encouraged to apply to their own lives.

  • Teaches mindfulness and cognitive behavioural strategies 
  • Based in the concepts of inquiry, acceptance, non-attachment, compassion, loving-kindness and non-judgement

Details:
  • 1.5 hours weekly for 8 weeks
  • BC residents 20+ are welcome to apply
  • Referral by a physician, nurse practitioner, or midwife is required
  • Classes are covered by MSP
  • $55 administrative and materials fee

Virtual Mindfulness Course - West Coast Resiliency Centre

Looking for a mindfulness based stress reduction course? This virtual mindfulness course is taught by Dr. Jano Klimas, RCC, and is open to BC residents over the age of 19.

  • Sessions are 2.5 - 3 hours in length

Emotions BC - Mindfulness Program​

Self-Compassion Guided Meditation
Emotions BC offers a mindfulness program that introduces participants to the practice of mindfulness as a way to improve mental well-being. Participants learn to live in the moment and without judgement. 

Details:
  • Program is 6 weeks long, and participants must commit to all 6 sessions
    • Note: two half-day workshops has replaced the program temporarily
